Welcome to the Glendale Maspeth United Methodist Church website!
We are a friendly church and welcome new members and guests with a spiritual and Biblical emphasis. We are a close-knit family that seeks to live as the early Christians in Acts of the Apostles; who devoted themselves to the Word, to fellowship and to the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42). We are committed to growing our personal relationship to the Lord and to doing His work in our communities.
In July 2010, the congregations of Glendale UMC and Maspeth UMC merged. The merger has brought the gifts and talents of our two church families together to create a vibrant community of faith. We are very excited about the possibilities that lie before us for ministry and mission.
Our Sunday worship is at 11:00am with Holy Communion on the first and third Sunday of each month (except July and August). Sunday School for children and teenagers meet at 10:00 a.m. An Adult Bible study group meets at 9:45 a.m. One Sunday afternoon a month, our United Methodist Youth fellowship organizes outings such as bowling, hiking, miniature golf, and trips to Manhattan and Central Park.
We have a midweek service at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of the month. At 6 pm, a meal is provided. Other Wednesdays, attendees are asked to bring a sandwich but coffee and dessert are provided. The service consists of hymns, Scripture reading and reflection, and intercessory prayers. We read the three Scripture lessons for the upcoming Sunday and discuss them.
Our United Methodist Women’s group meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Our United Methodist Men’s group sponsors special coffee hoiurs and carries out various activities. Through out the year, we have a number of events such as pancake breakfasts, rummage sales, a November Fall Fair, Chinese auctions and carabets. We finish the year with a Christmas Eve candlelight service. Our missions team works hard to collect food for the local food pantry.
We hope that you will join us and grow our family! please call us at 718-821-7882 if you have any further questions or would like to become a member.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Pastor Philip Hardt
